呪術廻戦 226話 人外魔境新宿決戦④ 破壊された無量空処 伏魔御厨子に切り刻まれる五条悟ふくまみずし...

The previous chapter ended as follows:

Outside the barrier of Gojo’s Domain Expansion, the curse technique of Fukuma Mizushi continues to erode various things. The range of Sukuna’s Domain reaches beyond the outer corners of Gojo’s domain. The barrier of the domain is fragile against attacks from the outside. With a loud crash, Gojo’s domain is destroyed, while Sukuna’s domain remains intact.

Sukuna looks down on Gojo from atop Fukuma Mizushi and laughs. Gojo is shocked, and in the next moment, a fierce slash hits Gojo’s neck.

Synopsis:

Continuing from where the previous chapter left off, it begins with Gojo Satoru’s decapitation. On the other side, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical High School, Itadori stands up and shouts, “Sensei!” upon seeing Gojo’s head being cut off. However, Gojo quickly regenerates his severed head using Reverse Cursed Technique. However, as long as he remains within Sukuna’s Domain, Fukuma Mizushi’s slashes continue relentlessly.

Sukuna’s Domain doesn’t close the barrier, so it should be easy to escape. Choso says this confidently, stating that even assuming the maximum effective range of Fukuma Mizushi is Shibuya’s vacant lot, Gojo-san’s speed would allow him to quickly break free. Hime also adds that his instantaneous movement is achieved through the compression of space and coordinates using Unlimited Cursed Technique. Right after the destruction of the domain, Gojo won’t be able to use his techniques for a while, calmly responds Kusakabe. Hearing that, Miwa anxiously asks if that means… they are in serious trouble.

Returning to the scene between Gojo and Sukuna, Gojo Satoru is constantly bombarded by Fukuma Mizushi’s slashes. Despite healing himself with Reverse Cursed Technique whenever he gets hit, his body is covered in wounds, and he has lost one of his Six Eyes. In the midst of this, Gojo Satoru ponders and thinks, “Ah, that’s good. In terms of technique performance, I am overwhelmingly superior!” He feels confident.

While activating Fukuma Mizushi, Sukuna launches an attack on Gojo. Gojo retaliates with a punch, but Sukuna skillfully dodges it. As Gojo tries to create distance, Sukuna taunts him, asking if he’s trying to escape. Sukuna continues to press his attacks against Gojo. Despite Gojo unleashing punches infused with cursed energy in his counterattack, Sukuna manages to evade them successfully.

Gojo Satoru engages in a physical battle, infused with cursed energy, while constantly enduring Fukuma Mizushi’s slashes and healing himself with Reverse Cursed Technique. He finds himself in a vastly disadvantageous situation. Sukuna also praises Gojo for his ability to move well despite constantly evading his slashes and maintaining Reverse Cursed Technique at full power.

During the battle, Gojo realizes that the center of Fukuma Mizushi is the Mizushi itself, not Sukuna’s true form. His body, continuously enduring the slashes, is covered in blood and in a battered state. Gojo has also lost one of his Six Eyes, fighting with only one eye.

Back to the spectators from Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical High School, Itadori wonders what would happen if they destroy the Mizushi. Kusakabe explains that things manifested within a normally inherited domain often lack any special meaning or role. Essentially, they are like non-existent entities.

If the Mizushi is simply a symbol of the domain, it can’t be destroyed in the first place, and it’s meaningless. It is in this understanding that Mei Mei agrees.

“That’s bad, we’re out of options,” Kirara panics. At that moment, Gojo Satoru activates the “Shin Inryu Kani Kotei” (New Yin Flow Temporary Domain). He applies a temporary domain around himself to nullify Fukuma Mizushi’s sure-hit effect.

“A temporary domain!?” The students from Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical High School are surprised. Itadori says, “But Gojo-sensei said he couldn’t do it,” to which Kusakabe responds, “Well, Gojo can’t be taught. Those genius types who can do anything from the start are seriously not suited for teaching.” This elicits a response from the others, “Don’t assign someone like that as a teacher for first-year students…”

While nullifying the sure-hit effect with the temporary domain, Gojo repairs his body with Reverse Cursed Technique. Everyone is surprised, saying, “How can he use Reverse Cursed Technique and regular cursed energy manipulation at the same time?” But Choso worries, “With just a temporary domain, it can only buy some time against a real domain’s power.”

With the temporary domain applied, Gojo’s body has significantly healed since Fukuma Mizushi’s sure-hit effect doesn’t work. He immediately engages in close combat, but as expected, the temporary domain is dispelled, and in that moment, Gojo gets struck by an attack, once again covered in wounds and blood.

Choso remarks, “I told you so,” and watches Gojo’s subsequent moves.

Despite being beaten up, Gojo once again activates the “Shin Inryu Kani Kotei” (New Yin Flow Temporary Domain). Seeing this, Sukuna mutters, “How persistent,” looking annoyed.

However, Gojo Satoru is intentionally stopping the healing through Reverse Cursed Technique while maintaining the temporary domain. Okkotsu, Kamo, Kusakabe, and Miwa notice this and wonder why…

Could it be (out of cursed energy!?) No, Okkotsu strongly denies the possibility of Gojo running out of cursed energy. Ino Takuma, a student who admires Nanamin, says, “That’s because it’s assumed as common sense! After activating the domain, he continues to use Reverse Cursed Technique, which consumes twice the normal cursed energy! Moreover, the one attacking him is Sukuna himself!” They once again suspect that Gojo may have run out of cursed energy.

The temporary domain is completely stripped away, and Fukuma Mizushi’s slash once again strikes Gojo Satoru.

Is he going to lose… Gojo Satoru…

In an instant, Gojo lunges at Sukuna. His speed is beyond Sukuna’s expectations. Without hesitation, he performs the technique reversal “Kurenai” and lands a hit on Sukuna at close range.

“Is that possible!?” Okkotsu is surprised. The reason why he couldn’t heal his body… is because he was “healing the technique that was burned” through the technique reversal…? It’s unbelievable and shocking.

The technique reversal “Kurenai” blows Sukuna away. Sukuna takes significant damage. While saying, “Ah, it’s tough,” Gojo smiles wryly.

thoughts

In an instant, his head was cut off, but he easily healed it with the technique reversal. It was a calm technique reversal, born out of his previous experience when he fought Zen’in Junpei and had his throat pierced. However, despite enduring the continuous slashes of Fukuma Mizushi by fully utilizing the technique reversal, it’s impressive how Gojo Satoru incorporates attacks, defenses, and the fundamentals of offense and defense with cursed energy.

By buying time with the temporary domain and first healing himself, and then making it seem like the same thing would happen again with the second time, he displays quick thinking and adaptability in “healing the burned techniques.” As Biscuit mentioned in HUNTER×HUNTER, it’s the “instantaneous thinking” in combat. The way it’s expressed, it really showcases the incredible sense of Yoshihiro Togashi, doesn’t it?

Okkotsu stubbornly insists that Gojo Satoru doesn’t run out of cursed energy, so it’s possible that they trained together in combat exercises and releasing cursed energy. Perhaps they trained together with Maki, Okkotsu, and Zen’in as well, even though there haven’t been any depictions since their revival. Maybe they even fought against each other as a group of three? But even with training, if they were to clash with a special grade sorcerer, the terrain could change, and it wouldn’t be surprising if someone died during training, right?

He said that his techniques are overwhelmingly strong. It seems like there are flags indicating that Itadori will start using the Ten Shadows Technique. Sukuna still has Fushiguro to contend with, and next, Gojo will attack with unrestricted cursed techniques while Sukuna uses the Ten Shadows Technique to counter, perhaps.

Since there’s no chance of winning with domain expansion, Gojo will have to somehow endure damage with the technique reversal “Kurenai,” the technique transition “Ao,” and the Hollow Technique, Gai. Or perhaps he has a new technique after all? If both sides have a large amount of cursed energy and can recover with the technique reversal, something that can influence the battlefield will be necessary. I have a feeling that this will be fulfilled by the Ten Shadows Technique’s Makgora.

There will be a one-week break next week, so we have to wait for two weeks…
